Overview
Mu Cang Chai is a highland district located at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea level. Even visiting Mu Cang Chai just once allows travelers to feel the richness of nature, the uniqueness of local culture, and the warmth of its people.
The journey to Mu Cang Chai, though long and challenging, is extremely rewarding. The scenery constantly changes along the way: before visitors can fully admire the stilt houses of the Thai people scattered across the vast Muong Lo plain adorned with countless white Ban flowers, they are already winding along the twisting roads that snake around steep hillsides.
Geological movements have shaped Mu Cang Chai with high peaks such as Pung Luong (2,985 m), Phu Ba (2,512 m), and Mo De (2,100 m). Crossing Khau Pha Pass (2,100 m), the highest among the "Four Great Passes" of the Northwest, travelers are greeted by a sea of floating clouds and a cool climate that lasts all year round.
