To reach the top, visitors must conquer nearly 400 stone steps winding around the foot of Dragon Mountain. At the summit stands a 30-meter tall flagpole, proudly flying the red flag with a yellow star in the wind. MA PI LENG PASS
Located on the Happiness Road connecting Dong Van and Meo Vac, Ma Pi Leng Pass is known as the "king of mountain passes" in northern Vietnam. At nearly 1,500 meters above sea level and stretching about 20 kilometers, it is one of the "four great passes" — the most challenging and impressive mountain roads in Vietnam. On one side are towering cliffs, and on the other is a deep valley, with the emerald Nho Que River quietly flowing at the foot of the pass. The breathtaking scenery leaves visitors amazed by the wonders of nature. From the top of Ma Pi Leng, visitors can see the Tu San Canyon — said to be the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia — and feel the majestic beauty of the wild highlands.
NHO QUE RIVER
The emerald-green Nho Que River is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the rocky highlands of Ha Giang. Originating from Nghiem Son Mountain (Yunnan, China), the river flows through the Tu San Canyon — the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia — creating a magnificent natural scene. The river stays green all year round, winding between the steep cliffs of Ma Pi Leng Pass, like a soft silk ribbon across the mountains. Taking a boat ride on the river, you will feel the absolute peace, hearing only the gentle sound of water and the whisper of the wind among the mountains. Boating on the Nho Que River is an experience you should not miss when visiting here. It feels like traveling through time, blending into the endless flow of nature and history.
